Speech At ACWG, Deputy Chairperson Of The KPK Lili Pintauli: Corruption Is An Extraordinary Crime

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Lili Pintauli Siregar said the role of many parties was needed in eradicating corruption. Moreover, the practice of corruption is an extraordinary and transnational crime.

This was conveyed during a speech at the second round of the Anti Corruption Working Group (ACWG) 2022 in Nusa Dua, Bali. The activity was held on July 5-8 and was attended by 20 delegates from G20 member countries.

"Corruption is an extraordinary crime that touches transnational aspects," said Lili in English which was broadcast on the Indonesian KPK's YouTube, Tuesday, July 5.

With this condition, Lili said eradicating corruption requires cooperation from many parties. Not only from the government but also organizations, communities, and individuals.

He emphasized that no single institution could eradicate corruption alone.

"Now, no single organization or country can eradicate corruption without the help of all parties," continued the former deputy head of the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK).

For this reason, the KPK hopes that the G20 delegated countries can have a dialogue to eradicate corruption. Moreover, from this international meeting, it is hoped that recommendations will be made to eradicate irresponsible practices.

"Eradicating corruption requires enthusiasm from many parties, the government, organizations, communities and each individual," he said.

As previously reported, Lili Pintauli should have undergone an ethics trial for allegedly receiving accommodation and tickets for the Mandalika MotoGP. However, he was not present because he participated in ACWG activities in Nusa Dua, Bali.

Furthermore, the KPK Supervisory Board postponed the trial until Monday, July 11.

Lili was again reported to the KPK Council for allegedly receiving hotel accommodation facilities and tickets to watch the 2022 MotoGP race at the Mandalika International Circuit, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), from PT Pertamina (Persero).

In dealing with the alleged receipt, the KPK has collected materials and information from related parties, including the state-owned company. President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) Nicke Widyawati has also been examined some time ago and provided additional information in writing.

Not only that, the KPK Council has also asked related parties to bring proof of booking accommodation at Amber Lombok Beach Resort and Mandalika MotoGP tickets at the Grandstand Premium Zone A-Red.
