There's A 6 Ha Marijuana Field In North Aceh, Hidden On A Hillside
JAKARTA - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) destroyed six hectares of marijuana fields spread over two points in Sawang District, North Aceh Regency, Aceh.
Director of Narcotics Deputy for Eradication of BNN, Brigadier General Roy Hardi Siahaan, in North Aceh, said the total weight of the banned plants that were destroyed reached 10 tons.
"Cannabis plants are destroyed by plucking and burning. The destruction of marijuana fields coincides with the international anti-narcotics day and is a concrete manifestation of BNN in fighting drugs", said Brigadier General Roy Hardi, Tuesday, June 28, quoted from Antara.
The operation to destroy the marijuana fields involved a joint team of 147 personnel from the National Narcotics Agency, TNI, Polri, Satpol PP, the Agriculture Service Prosecutor's Office, and other relevant agencies.
The location of the marijuana fields is known in collaboration with the Indonesian National Narcotics Agency with the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). The fields are located in Alue ie Mudek Hamlet, Teupin Reusep Village, and Blang Manyak Village, Sawang District, North Aceh Regency.
The location of the marijuana fields is difficult to reach and pass by two-wheeled or four-wheeled vehicles. The location of the marijuana fields is on a hillside with an altitude of 50 and 217 meters above sea level (masl).
"In the operation to destroy the marijuana fields, the officers did not find the perpetrators. The perpetrators of planting narcotics plants can be charged with the threat of death or life imprisonment", he explained.

BNN confirmed that it would intensify the "Grand Design Alternative Development" (GDAD) Program which aims to divert people from growing cannabis to other plants.
"The purpose of this plant transfer is to prevent people from growing marijuana so that the production of these prohibited plants can decrease in Aceh Province", he said.
