When His Wife Left, This Father Routinely Did Sexual Abuse To His Daughter And It Happened For 13 Years

JAKARTA - A lecherous father. He regularly sexually abuses his daughter at home when his wife is not around. And it was done for 13 years.

Quoted from Channel News Asia, Monday 27 June, the abuse began in 2007 when the victim was eight years old. It continued for years until the offense was exposed in 2020.

The 63-year-old is now jailed for 26.5 years after pleading guilty to four counts of rape and sexual assault. Another 22 charges for similar offenses are considered for conviction.

The man cannot be named to protect the victim's identity.

The court heard that the victim lived in a three-bedroom flat with her parents.

Since childhood, the victim occasionally sleeps in her parents' master bedroom because there is no air conditioning in her bedroom.

The victim's mother often went out of work during the day. Because his father has more flexible working hours, he is often alone with her in the flat, Singapore.

The abuse started in December 2007. The victim was sleeping in the master bedroom when her father woke her up and sexually assaulted her for 15 minutes.

He then told her not to tell anyone what had happened and went to work.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Sheldon Lim and Ng Yiwen said this was the first instance of what would be years of prolonged abuse.

In January 2008, this father's behavior escalated, raping his daughter for the first time while her mother was at work.

He continued to sexually harass her from 2008 to August 2020, when she was 21 years old. The man also showed her pornography.

The victim clearly refused. She tries to stop her father's abuse, but doesn't know how.

“She felt confused, lost and helpless because on the one hand he was afraid of the defendant because of his anger and did not want his parents to divorce, but on the other hand, he exploited her sexually, and she felt ashamed and angry,” said the Prosecutor.
