Failed To The Second Round Of Indonesia Masters 2022, Jonathan Christie: I'm Too Late To Change Strategy
JAKARTA — Indonesian men's singles Jonatan Christie failed to secure a ticket to the last 16 of the 2022 Indonesia Masters. His steps stopped after losing to Chinese representative Zhao Jun Peng.
Jojo, as Jonatan is known, defeated the rubber games 21-10, 14-21, and 11-21 at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday, June 8. He is the second representative of Indonesia's men's singles which ran aground in the first round.
"Yes, in the first set the strategy was good and precise, but in the second set may be the enemy had read my game. So I was too late to change my strategy. Besides that, I made many mistakes", said Jonatan after the match.
From the beginning of the first game, Jonathan was immediately met with stiff resistance from Zhao Jun Peng. However, after the position was tied, 6-6, Jojo began to press his opponent and could win the game.
In the second game, the match was also tight. Jojo had taken an 8-5 lead, but his opponent scored three straight points to identify the score and continued to lead to win the second game.
In the game of determination, Jojo and his opponent produced twin numbers in the first ten points, namely 1-1, 3-3, and 5-5. However, after that, Jonathan continued to fall behind until the match was over.
"After that, he played more confident and calmer. He controlled the game whereas I was the opposite", said Jonathan.
This is Jonathan's fourth meeting with Zhao Jun Peng. In the previous three meetings, Jojo has won twice and lost once.
