Yogyakarta Governor Suspects Bribery Case Of Former Yogyakarta Mayor Haryadi Suyuti Becomes The Entrance For KPK To Explore Other Misappropriations

YOGYAKARTA - Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X suspected a bribery case for licensing the construction of an apartment building that ensnared former Yogyakarta Mayor Haryadi Suyuti (HS) as an entry point for the KPK to investigate other permits in the city of Yogyakarta.

"Yes, maybe in the direction of other permits, whether it's a hotel, whether it's an apartment, whatever it is. Yesterday it was only one way to enter, but I don't know what business it is that wong is his authority (Mayor, ed)," said Sultan HB X at the Kepatihan complex, Yogyakarta, as reported by Antara, Monday, June 6.

According to Sultan, the KPK should not only look for evidence related to bribery in licensing the construction of the apartment.

"Automatically, law enforcers should look for evidence, not only this, but maybe others should also be carried out, with their offices closed and so on, they may bring other documents," he said.

However, Sri Sultan admitted that he did not know exactly about the apartment bribery case that ensnared the former mayor of Yogyakarta, because it was not within his scope of authority.

"The authority is in my city, I don't know, I don't know the process. The only problem is that he (Haryadi Suyuti) has retired, why is the meeting at the mayor's official house when in fact (supposedly) he is no longer there, said the Sultan.

The Sultan hopes that Haryadi Suyuti can face the entire legal process well. According to the King of the Yogyakarta Palace, Haryadi had broken his own promise regarding his anti-corruption commitment.

"Just face the legal process, if you do, because Mr. Haryadi himself also broke his own promise because he also signed an integrity pact, right. So yes, the process is done well," said Ngarsa Dalem, ninckname of Sultan HB X.
