The Indonesian National Team Can Only Draw Against Bangladesh, Shin Tae-yong Apologizes And Highlights Stefano Lilipaly-Dimas Drajad Performance
BANDUNG - The Indonesian national team failed to win when they hosted Bangladesh at Si Starling Harupat, Bandung, Wednesday, May 1. In that match, the Garuda Squad only drew 0-0.
The coach of the Indonesian national team, Shin Tae-yong, admitted that his team could not deliver the expected results. For that, he apologized for the result of the match against Bangladesh.
"The support from the fans was extraordinary. We should have been able to show a similar performance. But it didn't. I once again apologize, as well as thank the Indonesian people," Shin Tae-yong said in a press conference after the match, as quoted by Antara.
"Indeed, the match was friendly. However, the match was still a test before the 2023 Asian Cup Qualification in Kuwait. We should have won by three or four goals to make the fans happy," he continued.
The 52-year-old man then highlighted the performance of his team in the match. Including their two forwards, Stefano Lilipaly and Dimas Drajad.
According to him, Lilipaly and Dimas failed to carry out their duties as attackers.
"As attackers, they should be able to create chances. However, they did not do that. To this day, they have not met my expectations," said the South Korean tactician.
After the match against Bangladesh, the Indonesian national team will return to Jakarta to prepare to fly to the 2023 Asian Cup qualifiers in Kuwait. In this event, Marc Klok and his friends will play Group A matches with Kuwait, Jordan, and Nepal.
