Mesut Ozil Friday Prayers At Istiqlal Mosque: Goals Achieved, Thank You
JAKARTA - Mesut Ozil took the time to perform Friday prayers at the Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta, on the sidelines of his business visit. He joined the congregation with the Indonesian people on 27 May.
Mesut Ozil admits, this is a dream he really wants to realize. The Fenerbahce player admitted that he was curious about the beauty and image of the Istiqlal Mosque as one of the largest mosques in Southeast Asia.
In photos circulating on social media, Ozil looks simple in a black collared shirt. The former Arsenal player also uses a cap that matches his shirt.
While praying, Ozil was also seen filling the front row. He was in the position directly behind the priest.
"Assalamualaikum. Thank you for accepting me here," he said after Friday prayers.
"I've always had a dream to pray in this beautiful mosque with you, so thank you, assalamualaikum," Ozil continued.
Before taking the time for Friday prayers in congregation at the Istiqlal Mosque, the German player of Turkish descent had time to meet with Bali United officials. During the meeting, Ozil received a souvenir from the CEO of Bali United, Yabes Tanuri.
On Thursday, May 26, Ozil also met a number of fans and public figures, including Prilly Latuconsina and Arief Muhammad, at an official dinner.
Furthermore, the player who was once associated with Rans Cilegon FC will fly to Bali. He will enjoy the holidays with his family.
