Coordinating Minister For Human Development And Culture: Alhamdulillah, Homecoming This Year, Accident Rates Decreased
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy, said the number of accidents on highways and vacation spots during the Eid moment this year has decreased.
This was conveyed after holding a Limited Meeting Evaluation of the 2022 Lebaran Homecoming led by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the State Palace, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, May 24.
"Alhamdulillah, during this year's homecoming, the number of accidents has decreased", Muhadjir said as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube.
"In addition, incidents at tourist attractions have also decreased drastically to almost zero", he added.
Muhadjir did not deny that there was an accident at Kenjeran Park, namely the slide that collapsed while being climbed by visitors. However, from the incident that attracted public attention, no one died.
"There were 16 who were injured but thank God none of them died. And currently being handled by the police for further investigation", he said.
"And I also checked in the field, at the hospital everything has been handled well", added Muhadjir.

Complementing Muhadjir's statement, Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi said the accident rate fell by 40 percent this year.
"Even the number of deaths has decreased by 72 percent, which is a very significant number for the number of accidents", he said.
Budi said there were two reasons for the decline in the number of accident cases. One of them, because of the reduced number of travelers who use motorcycles.
"The number of motorcycle users has decreased drastically", said Budi Karya.
In addition, he also said that the reduction in tourist buses has also caused the number of accident cases to decrease.
"Because as we all know, tourist buses are used AKAP (Inter-City Inter-Provincial) buses that are used individually and sometimes it can be tracked whether the driver is right, the bus is right, it's not tracked", he said.
"So there are two things that have decreased the number of accidents. One is due to the shortage of motorbikes and thanks to you to motorbike users because we did appeal and we also appeal to the Regional Police, the Transportation Agency to carry out law enforcement on tourist buses because tour buses are dangerous", concluded Budi.
