High Wave Potential Of More Than 2 Meters In NTB, BMKG Asks Ship Users To Be Alert
NTB - Potential waves up to 2 meters high appear in the northern and southern parts of the Lombok Strait, the Alas Strait, the southern part of the Sape Strait, to the southern Indian Ocean of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) forecaster Zainuddin Abdul Madjid Lombok Meteorological Station, Agastya Argha Candra, appealed to people who are active in these waters to be aware of the potential for high waves from the BMKG.
"Residents who use sea transportation and crossing services or who plan to move on the coast or in the waters around NTB should remain alert to the impact of high waves", said Candra in a written statement in Praya, NTB, Tuesday, May 24.
In addition, the BMKG also appealed to people living on the coast in the NTB Province to be aware of the high waves that occurred. The fishermen are expected not to go to sea to anticipate the impact of the extreme weather that is predicted to occur this week.
"Residents on the coast in the NTB area to remain vigilant against the impact of high waves that will occur", he said.
Previously, the BMKG predicted the potential for moderate to heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds in parts of NTB for the next two days.
"The potential for rain is estimated to occur from noon to the afternoon for the next two days", he said.

On May 24, 2022, the BMKG estimates that it will rain in parts of NTB in the districts of West Lombok and West Sumbawa. Meanwhile, the Regencies of East Lombok, East Lombok, North Lombok, Mataram City, Sumbawa, Dompu, and Bima did not rain.
Furthermore, on Wednesday, May 25, BMKG forecasts the potential for moderate to heavy rain accompanied by strong winds in the districts of West Lombok, Central Lombok, East Lombok, North Lombok, Mataram City, West Sumbawa, Sumbawa, Bima, and Dompu.
"On May 25, 2022, on average in some districts/cities in NTB there is the potential for rain to occur", he said.
Therefore, BMKG appeals to the public to be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds which can cause floods, landslides, and fallen trees.
"We urge NTB residents, in general, to stay alert during heavy rains", he said.
