Akhyar said that during the COVID-19 pandemic, economic conditions were very chaotic. The negative impact has an impact on people's income.

"Our economic cycle has been interrupted. I happen to live near UMSU. If the students are closed like this, if we count 12 thousand, boarding and meals, around Rp. 100 billion is lost," he explained.

However, Akhyar said the trend of COVID-19 cases was decreasing. If at first there were 40 people positive for COVID-19 per day, now an average of 20 people are exposed to the corona virus.

"Here we are again considering, universities can be released for face-to-face teaching and learning, but SD and SMP are still difficult. We consider it inadequate knowledge," he said.

In addition, Akhyar also presented the Medan Character program. According to him, Medan is a multicultural, multi-ethnic city, and this has become a wealth for people of Medan.

"This diversity is very well preserved, this is our capital as Medanese. Medan has character, he is loyal to the nation, respect for parents, that diversity we must develop," he said.

Akhyar also dismissed the issue of implementing Islamic law in Medan. This issue should not be worried about because Akhyar guarantees freedom of religious adherents.

"Apart from being nominated by Democrat and PKS, this is not something to worry about. Because PKS is realistic, they do not want to make Islamic law. Medan has character, that diversity must be maintained," he explained.

"In my personal life, I never differentiate between anyone. So in this meeting I emphasize to you, there is no need to worry. This diversity is our strength. When I meet anyone, no one feels awkward, because all of them are my brothers. "In a political context, everything will be politicized, because there are negative issues that are developing, this is what I have to convey," said Akhyar who is paired with Salman Alfarisi.
