Manchester United's Plan To Sign Frenkie De Jong Gets Support From Rio Ferdinand
JAKARTA - Manchester United reportedly wants to sign Barcelona midfielder, Frenkie de Jong. This was mentioned at the request of the new manager of Manchester United, Erik ten Hag.
This plan was supported by former Manchester United player, Rio Ferdinand. He said De Jong would be the right recruit for the Red Devils.
The former England defender said De Jong had the capacity to be a balancer in Manchester United's midfield.
"I always thought he was a top player. They said Frenkie de Jong could be the first player to come under Erik ten Hag and I would say: 'Yeah, a good signing,'" Ferdinand said as quoted by Antara from Goal.
"He is not big but he is fast with the ball and has very good dribbling skills. He can come out of pressure, make good decisions, is a good passer, is a balancer and his dribbling skills are very good."

"(United) is a team who are looking for players who can control the ball and control the game. They need to make the team function in terms of balance and possession. I think he will be a good addition," he added.
De Jong himself played under Ten Hag when he was still defending Ajax Amsterdam before moving to Barcelona in 2019. The collaboration between the two was able to bring De Godenzonen to the Eredivisie title, the KNVB Cup, and to reach the Champions League semifinals.
However, Manchester United's desire to bring in the Dutch player will not be young. The Red Devils must be prepared to spend 70 million euros (around Rp. 1.06 trillion) to redeem De Jong's official Barcelona request.
In addition, Frenkie de Jong is also doubtful about joining the Red Devils despite the presence of Erik ten Hag. The reason, Manchester United will not compete in the Champions League next season.
