Police Conduct 24-Hour Supervision Regarding Domestic Cooking Oil Distribution
JAKARTA - Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karo Penmas) of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Brig. Ahmad Ramadhan emphasized that the National Police is still monitoring cooking oil for 24 hours on the distribution and sale of cooking oil in the country.
"Especially monitoring on the part of producers, level one to level four distributors and retailers for 24 hours," Ramadhan told reporters, Friday, May 13.
Supervision will be carried out through a Joint Task Force (Satgas) from elements of the National Police together with the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Trade from the central level to the regional level.
In addition, Bhayangkara, the Supervisor of Public Order and Security (Bhabinkamtibmas) will also be involved to check and supervise distribution and sales.
Furthermore, Ramadhan said that strict action would also be taken if the National Police found that there were parties who violated the export policy ban.
"And will take strict action against all parties who are indicated as trying to violate the oil export policy. This is done to meet the needs of the Indonesian people," he said.
Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had announced a ban on the export of cooking oil and raw materials for crude palm oil or CPO. The ban is effective from Thursday, April 28 until a deadline to be determined.
Separately, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto also emphasized that strict action would be taken against those who violate the regulation.
Airlangga explained, in accordance with President Joko Widodo's directives and taking into account the views and responses of the public, so as not to become a different interpretation, the export ban policy is detailed to apply to all CPO, RPO, POME, RBD palm olein and used cooking oil products. This policy is regulated by the Minister of Trade Regulation (Permendag).
Airlangga said the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, the Ministry of Finance, and the National Police through the Food Task Force would implement strict supervision in the implementation of this policy.
