Wosi Market Manokwari Burns On Monday Morning
MANOKWARI - Hundreds of stalls at Wosi Market, Manokwari Regency, West Papua, caught fire on Monday, May 9 at 03.15 eastern Indonesia time.
Adam Maulana, a resident of the Pasar Wosi Manokwari neighborhood, said that the source of the fire was thought to have come from the center of the market, which was packed with wooden stalls, so the fire quickly spread to other buildings.
"The source of the fire was seen emerging from the center of the market, spreading to the building for about three hours, the flames could not be contained," he said as quoted by Antara.
He said the fire was successfully extinguished at around 07.45 eastern Indonesia time after residents tried to extinguish the fire with makeshift equipment assisted by Two Water Canon Brimob Units from the West Papua Police and a water tank truck.

Until now there have been no reports of casualties in this fire incident, but the Joint Police Team and the Manokwari Regional Disaster Management Agency are already at the scene.
The Manokwari Police Chief, Grand Commissioner Adjutant of Police Parasian Herman Gultom, confirmed that the Manokwari Police Identification Team was at the scene to collect data and information.
"The Manokwari Police Identification Team has been dispatched to the fire site to conduct a crime scene and initial investigation," he said.
