Azan Application Steals User Data, Cyber Security Experts Provide Safe Solutions!

JAKARTA - Recently, news has spread about the Azan application which is claimed to be able to steal user data. Cyber security expert, Alfons Tanujaya said that official applications on the Play Store cannot only be guaranteed to be safe.

This is because, according to Alfons, applications that are now proven to be safe and will not perform malicious actions can be changed to steal data, spy on users, key loggin, or screen capture.

"This is very difficult for application users to detect if it is run carefully by the application maker. And it will only be detected if the traffic and details of this application are carefully observed with special monitoring tools", said Alfons in a statement received by VOI, Friday, April 22.

Alfons said there should be an institution that supervises it with these special monitoring tools, and it is hoped that government institutions will play a role or take the initiative to check all applications.

"(Like) what access rights are requested, are these access rights relevant to the function of the application. Then check continuously the fact that the application is actually doing this and does not commit data theft", said Alfons.

In fact, said Alfons, the government or private application developers can also take the initiative to make applications that are popular and useful for the community such as the Azan application. Because this step will make people calm because they use applications made by native Indonesian developers.

"Why? Because this application acts irresponsibly, then the developer will immediately deal with the authorities so, of course, they will think a thousand times to prevent this from happening", explained Alfons.

For example, internet domains, where .id and .co.id domains are managed by the Indonesian Domain Name Manager (PANDI) are much safer from irresponsible abuse of domains such as being used for phishing or stealing data compared to .com domains or other non .id domains.

"The reason is simple, if there is a .id domain that is identified as committing a malicious act, then PANDI will be very easy to contact and react quickly because it is very interested in maintaining the security of the .id domain it manages so that perpetrators of fraud and phishing will also avoid using the .id domain for malicious actions. , said Alfons.

In addition, Alfons believes that Indonesia is very capable of making good applications and implementing them properly. Like the PeduliLindung application for example.

"If an application like PeduliLindung can be made, the Azan application is certainly not difficult to make and related parties, both government and private, such as the Ministry of Communication and Information, the Ministry of Religion, or PANDI, can immediately see this need and opportunity", concluded Alfons.
