West Sumatra Regional Police Delegates 2,342 Personnel To Guard Eid Al-Fitr
PADANG - The West Sumatra Regional Police (Polda) deployed 2,342 joint personnel in the 2022 Ketupat Singgalang Operation to secure the homecoming and return flows of Eid Al-Fitr 1443 Hijri.
The Head of Public Relations of the West Sumatra Police, Grand Commissioner Pol. Satake Bayu, in Padang, Monday, April 18, said that the Ketupat Singgalang Operation will start from April 28 to May 9, 2022, and is focused on locations prone to traffic jams, prone to accidents, and natural disasters.
The West Sumatra Police involve 2,268 National Police personnel for the Regional Police and their staff, while the rest will be filled with relevant agencies involved starting from the SAR, then from other organizational bodies, from the Satpol PP, and so on, bringing the total to 2,342 people.
The West Sumatra Police have also prepared 54 security posts spread across West Sumatra and 34 service posts and one integrated post in Bukittinggi City.
According to him, during Eid Al-Fitr 2022, it is predicted that the number of immigrants coming to West Sumatra will increase because it has been two years since they have not celebrated Eid al-Fitr in their hometown due to the government's ban due to COVID-19.

Moreover, there are more residents of West Sumatra outside West Sumatra than those in the province and they often return to "basamo" from overseas areas during Eid.
"We have prepared these posts to give them a resting location if they are tired of driving. We urge nomads to prioritize safety when going home and dare to rest when they are tired of driving," he said as quoted by Antara.
His party also continues to provide education to the public so that they are disciplined in implementing health protocols even though the current situation of COVID-19 cases is declining.
"We will continue to monitor the health protocols for the community, both for those who will carry out the Eid al-Fitr prayer, we will monitor it and also for road users," he said.
