The Remains Of The Victims Of The Fatal Accident In Manokwari Arrived In Kupang

KUPANG - A total of 18 bodies of victims of a fatal truck accident in Manokwari, West Papua from East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) arrived at El Tari Kupang Airport using a chartered plane.

When they arrived at Kupang El Tari Airport, the bodies of the victims of the deadly accident were received by the Deputy Governor of NTT, Josef Nae Soi, and the Chair of the NTT Regional House of Representatives, Emilia Nomleni.

Not only that, the families of the victims who were waiting at the El Tari Kupang airport also greeted the victims with sobs so that the atmosphere at the El Tari Kupang airport was filled with cries from the families of the victims of the accident.

The Deputy Governor of NTT, Josep Nae Soi, representing the NTT government, expressed his condolences for the incident that befell the NTT residents who work in West Papua.

"This is the sorrow of the entire NTT community, not only the grief of the family", he said, quoted by Antara, Thursday, April 14.

Previously, as many as 18 people from East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) who were mining workers in West Papua, were declared dead after the truck they were traveling in crashed into a mountain in KM 10 of the Arfak Mountains while heading to the city center.

"A total of 29 people boarded the truck when they were about to go to the city center", said Chair of the Flores Harmony, Lembata, Timor, Rote, Alor (Flobamora) Clinton Tallo when contacted from Kupang, Wednesday, April 13.

Currently, the names of a number of victims of the accident are being collected, so that the names of the victims will be released later.

However, he said, there are now around 10 people who are still in critical condition and are still being treated intensively by health workers in the area.
