Finished In Front Of The Mercedes Duo, Sergio Perez Gets Appreciation From Max Verstappen
JAKARTA - Red Bull Racing's Sergio Perez saved his team's weekend after finishing second in the Australian GP Formula 1 (F1) race. He managed to finish in second place behind Charles Leclerc who came out victorious.
In this race, Perez finished the race ahead of Mercedes duo George Russell and Lewis Hamilton, who finished third and fourth. While his teammate, Max Verstappen, again swallowed the bitter pill after failing to finish.
"Congratulations to Perez for being able to reach the podium," said Verstappen, as reported by Antara, Monday, April 11.
Perez himself admitted that it was quite difficult in this race. He said he was a little unlucky to lose his position due to the release of the safety car.
He also regretted the fate of Verstappen. The Mexican racer is sure that his team can win a double podium and his teammates will not have any problems.
"For the results it is good, but unfortunately we lost Max. It would be very good to get two podiums. We were a little unlucky in the first few races," said Perez.
Meanwhile, Red Bull Racing's Team Principal, Christian Horner, said it was not yet clear what the problem was with Verstappen's land jet. However, he believes this is related to the fuel tank.
"We don't know what the problem is, I think it might be a tank problem. We need to look back to find out what really happened," Horner told F1's official website.
