Minecraft Ray Tracing Was A Mistake, Microsoft: No Plans For It Anytime Soon
JAKARTA - Microsoft started testing Minecraft ray tracing on Xbox earlier this week. Now, the software giant has announced that the prototype code for ray tracing support was a mistake and will be removed.
"Previous versions of Minecraft Preview available for Xbox Insiders inadvertently included a prototype code for ray tracing support on Xbox consoles. This early prototype code has been removed from the Preview and does not indicate plans in the near future to bring ray tracing support to consoles," the statement said. on Minecraft Twitter, Thursday, March 31.
While there were initially leaks of Minecraft's ray tracing on the Xbox Series X two years ago, Microsoft doesn't seem ready to roll this out any time soon.
Microsoft's statement did leave the door open for ray tracing to still allow it to appear in Minecraft for the Xbox Series X/S console at some point.
