Starting This Month Telkomsel Will Turn Off 3G Networks And Switch To 4G/LTE
JAKARTA - Some time ago the Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Johnny G. Plate asked cellular operators in the country to turn off 3G networks and switch to 4G. Now, one of them is Telkomsel, which will soon make the transition.
Telkomsel will carry out the process of upgrading or upgrading 3G network services to 4G/LTE in 504 cities or regencies until the end of 2022.
The process of upgrading the 3G to 4G/LTE network will be carried out periodically, with the first phase starting from March to May 2022 in 90 cities or regencies, covering 766 sub-districts.
Meanwhile, for the next stage, the 3G network upgrade will be continued to 4G/LTE in 132 cities or regencies from June to July 2022. Then 178 cities or regencies in August to October 2022, and 104 cities or regencies from November to December 2022.
"Through the distribution of this leading broadband network, there will be more opportunities open to the people of Indonesia to enjoy and maximize the 4G/LTE broadband access experience that is more equitable, fast, stable, and reliable. Both in maximizing daily digital activities and accelerating digital transformation. Especially in supporting business activities to the community level in remote parts of the country," said Director of Network Telkomsel Nugroho in a statement received by VOI, Saturday, March 26.
To ensure the process of upgrading 3G to 4G/LTE services gradually and measurably in all regions in Indonesia can run well and does not reduce customer convenience, Telkomsel has had technical preparations, socialization to customers, to the optimal mitigation stage, which is carried out at the sub-district level in Indonesia. city or district that will undergo the upgrade process.
In addition, Telkomsel will also continue to conduct measurable assessments of each 3G to 4G/LTE service upgrade process in a total of 504 cities/districts for each period. Updates on data, schedules, and action plans will also continue to be carried out by adjusting the development of the implementation process, both technically and the readiness of the user ecosystem at the customer level.

For customers who want to exchange or replace a non 4G SIM card to a 4G uSIM card, Telkomsel offers a wide range of mechanism options, both online and offline.
In the online mechanism, customers can change cards by accessing Telkomsel's official Facebook and Twitter social media accounts, Telkomsel's Virtual Assistant (VA), e-commerce partners (Shopee, Tokopedia, Bukalapak, JD.ID), as well as utilizing the GraPARI Online service.
For customers who have upgraded/migrated to 4G/LTE services, they can still use telephone services as usual, by maximizing the 2G and 4G/LTE networks available in each region.
