Reflecting On The Mandalika MotoGP, House Commission X Asks Menpora To Pay Attention To Public Transportation Problems At International Events

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Indonesia House of Representatives Commission X, Dede Yusuf, asked the Ministry of Youth and Sports to avoid public transportation problems when holding international events. This request is the aftermath of the Mandalika MotoGP, last weekend.

Dede said that public transportation had become a problem in the MotoGP event at the Mandalika Circuit. After the event was held, many spectators were displaced because there was no bus to pick them up.

"First is the problem of public transportation. Many people are stuck while there. They can't get buses, vehicles, and finally many are stagnant", said Dede Yusuf during a working meeting at the House of Representatives on Wednesday, March 23, 2022.

During the Mandalika MotoGP, many reports said people had to stay in the circuit area until the evening because of the lack of transportation to get home. The intermodal buses that were prepared did not meet the number of spectators present.

During the Mandalika MotoGP performance, the organizers prepared at least 287 shuttle buses and 278 intermodal buses. However, when the race was over, most of the people did not receive service when they wanted to go home.

Dede said this should be avoided by the Ministry of Youth and Sports when it gets the opportunity to host an international event. Especially soon, Indonesia will host several international events.

"This is an important note. I don't want to correct a lot. It's just that there are a few points left over from the corrections that need to be made from the MotoGP incident. international events", he said.

In addition to hosting the ASEAN Para Games in the middle of this year, Indonesia has also been trusted to hold several other sporting events. One of them is the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup which will take place in Jakarta on 12-24 July.
