4-Year-Old Boy Killed By A Car, The Driver Is An 80-year-old Grandmother
JAKARTA - Police arrested an 80-year-old woman on suspicion of being the cause of death after the car she was driving hit and killed a four-year-old boy.
Police in Sakura, Chiba Prefecture said the incident occurred around 10:20 a.m. on Saturday, March 19. At that time the boy was crossing a two-lane road, quoted from Japan Today, Tuesday, March 22.
Police said Akiko Koide, a farmer-turned-grandmother, was on her way to go shopping when she hit the boy at a point in the street. And there are no intersections.
The boy was taken to the hospital. But his life could not be saved.
He died at 13:00 local time due to severe head injuries. Police said the boy was with his grandfather at the time.
The road is in a rural area with open fields on both sides. A sign posted near the crash site warns drivers to reduce speed. Visibility was good at the time, police said.
