NTB Police Pay Attention To The Rise Of Online Fraud Mode For Mandalika MotoGP Ticket Purchases
MATARAM - The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Regional Police paid attention to the rampant online fraud mode in purchasing tickets for the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia or MotoGP Mandalika in March 18-20, 2022.
The Head of Public Relations of the NTB Police, Commissioner Artanto, said that his party was paying attention by prioritizing the role of cyber. "So as a learning material for the next event, this problem (mode of fraud) will be our input. In the future, we will strengthen the cyber function", said Artanto in Mataram, Antara, Tuesday, March 22.
In carrying out its functions, he ensures that the cyber team will work by prioritizing prevention efforts. The technique is carried out by intensifying the supervision of social networking activities in the cyber world. Data collection from websites that sell MotoGP tickets is one of the focuses of cyber teams in conducting surveillance.
"Because it is related to tickets, of course, we will coordinate with the MotoGP organizers. So we will convey the current problems to the organizers", he said.
Artanto emphasized that his party had not yet received any official reports from the public or victims. "If there are reports, of course, we will follow up according to legal procedures", he said.
But so far, the NTB Police have only received a complaint from a resident from Jakarta who claimed to be a victim of fraud in the purchase of 32 tickets for the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP.
The resident from Jakarta, Adam Gazali, has access to purchase tickets through the motogpmandalikatiket.com site.
The ticket he bought through an intermediary, namely, a travel agency in Lombok, could not be exchanged for a bracelet. The reason for the ticket exchange committee is that it is not registered in the system.
This condition became the basis for Adam to complain about the problem to the NTB Police with the alleged perpetrator of fraud by the intermediary who sold the tickets.
"So from the complaint, the problem was requested by the SPKT (integrated police service center) to be resolved through mediation. So it has not yet entered the official reporting stage", said Artanto.
In mediation before the police officers, an agreement was made. The intermediary who sold the tickets to Adam had to return the money for the purchase of 32 MotoGP tickets worth IDR 67.8 million.
