Attending and leading the inauguration of the groundbreaking, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif said the establishment of a red and white catalyst factory was a testament to the synergy that must be continuously developed in various fields. According to him, the initiative of innovation research continues to be developed into an industrial form.

Currently, Indonesia only has one catalyst factory with a German license so there is limited fulfillment of national catalysts, and based on existing records, the value of catalyst needs in Indonesia currently reaches approximately 500 million US dollars and is projected to increase with a CAGR of 6 percent, almost all national needs imported from abroad. The volume of catalyst needs in Indonesia is for the Petrochemical Industry of 1.500 tons per year, for Oleochemicals of 800 tons per year, and for the Refinery industry of 18.000 tons per year.
The red and white catalyst factory named PT Katalis Sinergi Indonesia (PT KSI) was established on December 30, 2020, in the context of commercializing red and white catalysts and meeting the need for catalysts for green fuel development. The estimated investment required is around IDR 286 billion with an installed capacity of 800 tons per year and is located in the Cikampek Industrial Estate.
Construction of the factory is expected to be completed within 13 months. And it is hoped that in 2023 it can immediately produce to meet the needs of national catalysts.
