The SAR Team Uses An Underwater Object Detection Tool To Search For A Grade 6 Elementary School Boy Who Drowned In The West Canal Flood River
JAKARTA - The joint SAR team continues to search for a boy named Alfian (12) who disappeared and drowned in the West Flood Canal River, Petamburan Village, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta. The search continues until Wednesday, March 16, evening.
The Jakarta Search and Rescue Office as the SAR Mission Coordinator (SMC) who received the information immediately dispatched rescue personnel to the scene to carry out SAR operations.
"We are deploying rescue personnel with complete water SAR equipment, including underwater object detection devices," said Head of the Jakarta Search and Rescue Office as SAR Mission Coordinator (SMC) in SAR operations, Hendra Sudirman when confirmed by VOI, Wednesday, March 16, evening.
According to Hendra, the joint SAR team on Wednesday night had prepared three search and rescue unit (SRU) teams with 3 search points.
"The first SRU team will conduct a search by sweeping above the water's surface using a rubber boat with a radius of 2 kilometers from the incident location," said Hendra.

Furthermore, continued Hendra, the second SRU team will conduct a search by visual observation by land along the riverbanks up to a radius of 1 kilometer from the scene of the incident.
"The third SRU team will conduct a search by sweeping under the surface of the water using the Aqua Eye and the Underwater Searching Device," he said.
Previously, it was reported that Alfian, a 12-year-old boy was reported to have drowned in the West Flood Canal (BKB), Petamburan area, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, March 16, afternoon.
According to Adit (16), a friend of Alfian, the 6th grader drowned after playing in the water on the edge of the BKB River with three of his friends.
"Alfian played in the water with three of his friends. Continued to push and push towards Kali. Alfian and his friend had drowned, but the other friend managed to survive and disappeared (run away).
Meanwhile, the missing victims from drowning have not been found," Adit told VOI at the location.
Adit and nine other friends tried to find Alfian by swimming in the BKB river. But his efforts were not successful. Alfian was not found at that time.
