In Surabaya, After The Rain Left Puddles And 366 Damaged Roads Appeared

JAKARTA - There are 366 roads in the city of Surabaya, East Java that is damaged or have holes due to puddles of rain this year.

"We ask the Surabaya City Government to repair damaged roads after the rainy season ends", said a member of Commission C for the Development of the Surabaya City Regional House of Representatives, William Wirakusuma, in Surabaya, Tuesday, March 15.

The sad thing is, the damaged roads are almost evenly distributed throughout the city of Surabaya. One of the roads that were badly flooded was on Tidar Street to Petemon Street, Surabaya. Not only that, but severe flooding also occurred in the Sidotopo area.

He said the road damage due to rain was quite varied, ranging from light, moderate, to heavy.

"Each road section has a different level of damage. There are many holes in one road section, there are also only a few holes", he said.

William said the Surabaya City Government had allocated around IDR 30 billion from the 2022 Surabaya APBD for road repairs. For this reason, his party asked the Surabaya City Government to repair damaged roads.

"I have received many complaints from residents. This poses a danger to road users", said the legislator from the PSI faction.

According to him, road construction must comply with national standards, namely the fulfillment of the International Roughness Index (IRI) or the unevenness of the road surface.

The higher the IRI value (in m/km), the worse the road surface condition. This is stated in the Regulation of the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing No. 13/PRT/M/2011 concerning Procedures for Maintenance and Surveillance.

"I propose that the road overlay must be scraped first and given a foundation so that the road does not bump or protrude. In addition, all roads with manholes must be level with the road. For example, on Jemur Andayani Street, Sidotopo Wetan, and Simo", said William quoted from Antara.

William asked the Surabaya City Government so that there would be no more potholes in 2022.

Deputy Mayor of Surabaya Armuji previously asked residents of Surabaya to report damaged roads or potholes to the 112 command center or the "Wargaku" application, which functions as a media for complaints and services for residents.

Armuji guarantees a quick response from the Surabaya City Government if you encounter potholes and bumpy roads.

According to Armuji, during the rainy season, some roads in the city of Surabaya are not all smooth. There are many potholes and uneven roads.

He received reports from residents via his personal cell phone that there were potholes and bumpy roads on Kapasan Street, Tambaksari Street, and Bubutan Street near Tugu Pahlawan.
