Oscar-Winning Actor William Hurt Dies, Last Played In Avengers: Endgame
JAKARTA - Sad news came from Hollywood. William Hurt, the Oscar-winning actor, has died at the age of 71. His son, Will Hurt said William Hurt died on March 13, 2022, at the age of 71 years.
"The Hurt family is deeply saddened by the passing of William Hurt, beloved father, and Oscar-winning actor on March 13, 2022, one week before his 72nd birthday. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family due to age. The family requests privacy at this time", Will Hurt said in a family statement.
William Hurt won his first Oscar for Kiss of the Spider Woman, which was released in 1985 as Best Actor at the 58th Academy Awards. He also received the British Academy Film Awards, 1st Independent Spirits Awards, 1985 Cannes Film Festival, until 1986 David at the Donatello Awards for his work in the film.
William Hurt is very active in acting. Until his old age, he continued to act. Most recently he joined the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) playing the role of General Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross in The Incredible Hulk (2008). He later returned as the new Secretary of State in Captain America: Civil War (2016).
In 2018, William Hurt also appeared in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame (2019) before his last MCU appearance in Black Widow last year.
