His Name Was Dragged Away In The Case Of Rhea Chakraborty, Rakul Preet Did Not Remain Silent
JAKARTA - The Delhi High Court on Thursday asked the Center for a response to actress Rakul Preet Singh's plea to stop media reports linking her to the Rhea Chakraborty drug case.
Launching Asian Age, Friday, September 18, Judge Navin Chawla issued a notification to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prasar Bharti and the Indian Press Council, asking for their stand on the petition.
The court also asked the authorities to treat her defense as representative and make a decision before the next trial date on 15 October.
He also expressed the hope that "media houses will refrain from reporting and will comply with cable TV regulations, program codes and various guidelines, statutes and self-regulation, while producing any reports relating to the applicant (Rakul Preet)".
The actress, represented by advocate Aman Hingorani, claimed in her defense that Rhea Chakraborty had withdrawn the statement in which she was allegedly named, but media reports linked her to the case.
Recently, several reports have suggested that Rhea has named Rakul and Sara Ali Khan in a drug case investigated by Mumbai's Bureau of Narcotics Control (NBC).
Rhea Chakraborty was arrested for drug use linked to the death of Sushant Singh Rajput in June. He was brought in by NCB Mumbai on Tuesday, 8 September.
