In Response To Russia's Invasion Of Ukraine, NATO Is Ready To Deploy Special Forces
JAKARTA - The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) intervened in the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In fact, for the first time in history, NATO directly deployed its special forces, the NATO Response Force.
"We have activated the NATO defense plan to prepare ourselves to respond to various possibilities to secure our alliance territory, including deploying special forces," NATO heads of state and government said in a joint statement.
NATO said the special forces would increase defense forces in eastern Ukraine. "All of this is done to ensure a strong defense in the alliance's territory, either now or in the future," NATO wrote.
Even so, NATO ensures, the reduction of special forces is a preventive and proportional measure. Thus, the escalation will not increase.

As is known, the deployment of NATO troops is the first in history. This multinational force has 40.000 troops consisting of land, air, and sea troops.
However, to realize the deployment of special forces, NATO must get approval from 30 member countries.
On the other hand, the Headquarters of the US Department of Defense, Pentagon once prepared its 8.500 troops in a state of alert like what Ukraine is currently experiencing. If the NATO special forces are officially activated, then US troops can immediately be ordered to fly to Europe to strengthen the defense of countries adjacent to Ukraine.
Even so, US President Joe Biden stressed that his party would not send troops because Ukraine is not a member of the alliance.
