318 Flood And Landslide Victims In Siau, North Sulawesi Refuge To Church Building
SANGIHE - A total of 318 community members who were victims of flash floods and landslides that occurred on, Monday, February 21, on the island of Siau, Siau Regency Tagulandang Biaro North Sulawesi fled to the nearest church building.
"A total of 318 residents of the flood and landslide disaster on the island of Siau, fled to the nearest church building", said the head of the Siau Tagulandang Biaro Regency Cominfo, Gandawari Mulalinda in Siau, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, February 22.
According to him, 318 residents who were victims of the floods and landslides were in the church building in Paniki, Paseng, and Peling Sawang subdistricts and Batusenggo subdistricts.
"A total of 103 people in Kelurahan Paniki, 113 people in Paseng Subdistricts, 32 people in Kampung Peling Sawang and 70 people in Kampung Batusenggo", he said.
The District Government through the Social Services and related services has provided food needs as well as mattresses and blankets for the refugees.
He hoped that all refugees would temporarily remain in the evacuation site because the Siau Tagulandang Biaro regency government would continue to prepare all the food and drink needs during the evacuation.

According to him, the rain that poured down on the Siau Islands, on Monday, February 21, resulted in flash floods in three villages and landslides in a number of villages and sub -districts.
"Flash floods occurred in Batusenggo subdistricts and Laghaeng subdistricts, South West Siau District, as well as Kampung Peling Sawang, West Siau District, while landslides occurred in Lia 1 subdistricts, East Siau District and covered a number of road sections on Siau Island", he said.
In addition to flash floods and landslides, there were also river overflows that inundated road sections in Paniki Subdistricts and Paseng, West Siau District, resulting in sand and stone material filling the road sections.
