Quincy University Accepts Bitcoin, Dogecoin, And Shiba Inu Donations

JAKARTA – Quincy University, based in Illinois, USA, has reportedly started accepting donations in the form of cryptocurrencies. The private university accepts a total of 32 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Tron, Dogecoin, and Shiba Inu.

U.Today reports that Quincy University senior director, Matt Bergman highlighted the mushrooming growth of the crypto industry. He stated that crypto growth will not slow down “soon”.

“QU is always looking for ways to make it easier for donors to support our students and initiatives,” he said.

Quincy University is not the first educational institution to accept donations in the form of cryptocurrencies. Previously there were other universities in the US, namely the University of Puget Sound and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Back in 2014, the University of Puget Sound became the first American university to accept cryptocurrency donations. Its alumni gave 14.5 Bitcoins to the educational institution, which was worth around $10,000 at the time, with the help of payment processing company BitPay.

The number of universities that have embraced cryptocurrency has skyrocketed since then. The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania allows blockchain program participants to pay their tuition fees in Bitcoin.
