The Fire That Killed 8 Miftahul Khoirot Students, Started From A Spark Of A Fan Cable
KARAWANG – Eight students were reported killed in a fire incident at the Miftahul Khoirot Islamic Boarding School, Manggungjaya Village, Cilamaya Kulon District, Karawang Regency, West Java. Police officers received information that the source of the fire came from a spark from a fan cable that fell on the mattress.
However, the Karawang Police are still conducting a deeper investigation to determine the cause of the burning of the Islamic boarding school.
"We are actually still investigating the cause of the fire," said Karawang Police Chief, Grand Commissioner Adjutant of Police Aldi Subartono, quoting Antara, Monday, February 21.
Aldi said, according to information from the surviving students, before the fire occurred there was sparks from a fan in one of the rooms on the second floor of the Islamic boarding school.
The spark from the fan plug then fell onto the mattress causing a fire.
At that time, the fire quickly spread to the other rooms, burning part of the boarding school building.
"That's all initial information, yes. So the fire started in a room, the floor of a boarding school where the building is still wooden," said Aldi.
In addition to the eight students who were reported to have died, there were three other students who were seriously injured.
The victims, both dead and seriously injured, were taken to the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Karawang.
As previously reported, the Miftahul Khoirot Islamic Boarding School, Manggungjaya Village, Karawang Regency, was scorched in a fire that occurred on Monday, February 21.

The students and local residents immediately tried to extinguish the fire with makeshift tools, while waiting for the Karawang BPDB Fire Department.
Firefighters from BPBD Karawang managed to extinguish the fire for more than two hours.
