60 People In Jambi Positive For COVID-19 Variant Omicron
JAMBI - The Jambi Provincial Health Office detected as many as 60 COVID-19 patients with the Omicron variant spread across four regencies and cities in the region.
"In Jambi Province, there are 60 people who have been detected as positive for COVID-19, the Omicron variant", said Head of the Jambi Provincial Health Office, Dr. Ferry Kusnadi, in Jambi, as reported by Antara on Wednesday, February 16.
He explained that Jambi Province had received a shipment of reagents to test samples of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 for testing 100 samples. From the results of tests carried out at Labkesda Jambi Province, 60 patients with the Omicron variant of COVID-19 were detected.
The Omicron variant of the COVID-19 patient was spread in Jambi City, Muaro Jambi Regency, Batanghari, and West Tanjab Regency. A total of 60 patients with the Omicron variant of COVID-19 only had mild symptoms and were undergoing treatment at a referral hospital for COVID-19 patients.
"The Omicron variant is not as vicious as the Delta variant, but the transmission process is faster than the Delta variant", he said.
With the detection of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in Jambi Province, the Health Office appealed to the public to increase discipline in implementing the COVID-19 health protocol, namely implementing the 5M more strictly, wearing masks, keeping a distance, washing hands with soap under running water, avoid crowds and reduce mobility outside the area.

In addition, the Jambi Provincial Health Office will again request reagents for the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 PCR swab test to the Ministry of Health. Thus the detection of Omicron variant COVID-19 patients can be further improved.
"We will again ask for reagents for the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 test, and will see if there are comorbidities from this variant because this is what lowers the immune system of COVID-19 patients", he said.
And so far, 699 COVID-19 patients in Jambi Province are undergoing treatment and isolation independently and undergoing isolation in an integrated isolation house, said Ferry Kusnadi.
