Please Local Government Re-evaluate The Implementation Of PPKM Immediately
JAKARTA - Government Spokesperson for the Handling of COVID-19 Wiku Adisasmito asked local governments to continue to strive to suppress the transmission of COVID-19, especially those on the islands of Java and Bali as the biggest contributors to national cases.
"Suppressing transmission needs to be sought by local governments, especially the provinces in Java and Bali as contributors to national cases. DKI Jakarta Province currently contributes 28 percent of the total national cases," said Wiku in a virtual press conference attended from Jakarta, reported by Antara, Tuesday, February 15th.
This percentage, explained Wiku, is even higher than the number of cases contributed by DKI Jakarta during the peak of the second wave surge last year, which was 24 percent.
Meanwhile in West Java and Banten the number of cases last week has also exceeded the record cases per week in the second wave caused by the Delta variant of COVID-19.
"For this reason, local governments are asking to immediately re-evaluate the implementation of PPKM in their regions. Especially considering that PPKM has been running for about a week and cases have not been successfully suppressed," said the Coordinator of the Expert Team for the Task Force for Handling COVID-19.

He asked the local government to ensure that they correctly follow all the rules contained in the latest Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs.
Regional governments are also asked to reactivate and improve the performance of COVID-19 posts in their respective regions.
Data from the COVID-19 Handling Task Force shows a decline in the performance of the command post at this time, which is below one million activities, compared to four million activities when the peak of the second wave occurred.
"It is important to remember that the role of the Command Post in the PPKM effort is at the forefront of controlling cases to the smallest level," said Wiku.
