Volar Trial In Dubai, Flying Car For Urban Transport

JAKARTA - A company in London has conducted the first successful flight test of a 'hypercar' that is expected to replace motorcycles in the future.

The vehicle called the Volar eVTOL – short for electric vertical take-off and landing – was made by Bellwether Industries.

The vehicle is a flying "hypercar" and, according to the company, is the world's first flying car that doesn't have the large wingspan or exposed blades that make it ideal for use in cities.

The half-scale test version of the flight was carried out at an altitude of 13 feet from the ground, at a speed of 25 miles per hour.

Tested in Dubai, the team said the flight demonstrated the "stability and controllability" of the prototype and would be the start of a series of development projects.

Bellwether said the ultimate vision of a full-scale volar would be a four- to five-seat aircraft that makes "intracity travel" at 3,000 feet at a speed of up to 135 miles per hour.

“We wanted to make a private urban plane for anyone to fly from anywhere to any point, at any time”,` said Kai-Tse Lin, Chief Operating Officer and co-founder of Bellwether Industries.

“Our Volar flies smoothly and proves our pursuit of innovation and technology. We are confident in our volar and will strive to improve with continuous improvement", said Lin, as quoted by the Daily Star.

"This marks the point where Bellwether Industries is taking a huge step forward and has demonstrated our potential to the next level", he said. “It is an exciting moment to witness the world's first eVTOL without huge wingspan or exposed blades come true.”

Unfortunately, until now there is no sales date for this vehicle and when it will be released.
