Anies Harvest Melon At Agro Edu Wisata Cilangkap

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan carried out the first harvest of melons cultivated in the Cilangkap Agro Edu Wisata (AEW) area, East Jakarta.

"Alhamdulillah, enjoying the other side of Jakarta. Here, we are not only given an interesting experience, but we are also presented with a productive area," said Anies when harvesting golden melons in Cilangkap, East Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Friday, January 28.

Anies harvests melons cultivated by the Center for Seed Development and Plant Protection at Agro Edu Wisata Cilangkap after 70 days of planting.

The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta, he said, would innovate in the development of urban agriculture (urban farming) through new ideas, namely the provision of facilities and assistance to the community involving academics, central government, private sector and communities in Jakarta.

In agro tourism and education covering an area of 19.5 hectares, the DKI Food, Maritime and Agriculture Security Service (DKPKP) also provides training on melon cultivation for the Kampung Bayam Madani Farmer Group in producing quality seeds.

In addition, the Center for Seed Development and Plant Protection DKPKP has collaborated with various parties, including the Faculty of Biology, Gadjah Mada University and the Faculty of Agriculture, IPB.

"This is an example of how the AEW area has the potential to become a tourism center as well as learning, both for knowledge and for application," said Anies.

The former Minister of Education and Culture also plans to build the Archipelago Cultural Padepokan to integrate cultural, tourism and agricultural creative economic development programs.

"If we do it consistently, on a scale that is getting bigger and bigger, we will have a very good economy," he said.
