Criticizing BUMN Official's Corruption, Erick Thohir: Like An Upstart Surprised To Handle Trillions Of Money, I'm Sure There Are Other Cases Outside Jiwasraya And Asabri

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir continues to transform all lines of state-owned companies. The transformation was carried out through improved governance and business processes. This is done as an effort to prevent corruption in state-owned companies.

"This transformation wouldn't have happened if it weren't for two things. If we don't, we'll fix it, one thing is governance and business processes, so what? suddenly holding a company whose profits are trillions, there is no management, if there is no governance, what is the end? Absolute power to corrupt," he said, during the Atma Jaya Unika Faculty Public Lecture, Wednesday, January 26.

Therefore, Erick emphasized the importance of affirming the foundation of the transformation carried out. One of them, good corporate governance or good corporate governance.

"There is no successful transformation without the transformation of its human resources," he explained.

To prevent the recurrence of corruption cases in PT Jiwasraya and PT Asabri, Erick said his party was pushing for improvements in the Finance Law.

"It is necessary to revise the Finance Law, Asabri and Jiwasraya into two cases, I'm sure there are many other cases that have not been opened," he said.

Erick said that the revision of the Finance Law was in line with President Joko Widodo or Jokowi's program related to state financial reform. Erick said that his party together with the Ministry of Finance and the Indonesian House of Representatives had discussed this matter.

But unfortunately, Erick was reluctant to provide further information.

"Don't ask me first, ask the DPR and the Ministry of Finance first," he said.
