In Front Of DPR Members, Minister Of Manpower Ida Said The Minimum Wage Should Apply To Workers Under 12 Months
JAKARTA - The Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Ida Fauziyah, highlighted that there are still many business actors who use the minimum wage as an effective wage. In fact, it should be applied as a safety net and employers should apply the structure and scale of wages.
The Minister of Manpower explained that the minimum wage should only apply to workers with a tenure of less than 12 months and after that, the structure and scale of wages will be applied.
"Indeed, in the field, the practice of drinking wages is used as an effective wage, regardless of how long he works, then how productive the workers are in one company. This is indeed our problem," explained Ida at the Commission IX Working Meeting of the Indonesian Parliament in Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Monday, January 24.
According to her, this factor causes why every minimum wage setting there is always an extraordinary dynamic.
In fact, the minimum wage should only act as a lower limit and safety net for workers. After the 12-month working period has elapsed, employers must determine and implement a wage structure and scale.
