Crypto Ecosystems Can Overcome Generations Of Poverty Curse, Ghozali Is An Example
JAKARTA - Brenda Gentry, a former USAA mortgage underwriter from Texas, believes that the cryptocurrency ecosystem offers an opportunity to overcome the poverty curse of several generations.
Gentry, or MsCryptoMom, left his decade job as a banker to pursue a crypto career full-time as his initial investments from early 2020 confirmed the “unprecedented opportunities that crypto has to offer.”
She currently runs Gentry Media Productions, a company that advocates decentralized finance (DeFi) and nonfungible token (NFT) projects that generate up to 20 Ether (ETH) every month, nearly $50.000 at this point.
Speaking to Cointelegraph, Gentry recalled when he first bought crypto. “It was early 2020 during the lockdown. I bought Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Link on Coinbase. When I started, I almost gave up many times. I just want to help other people have a more efficient way to get into crypto,” she told Cointelegraph.
With this initial investment, Gentry also dedicated his time to learning about DeFi, which eventually led him to invest in altcoins. Acknowledging the huge learning curve into crypto, this entrepreneur provides educational content through her website.
“I'm also holding seminars to educate the general public about navigation in this space and what to look out for when looking for a good NFT project or DeFi token, as well as how to quickly detect fraud or carpet recalls,” said Gentry.
Gentry's younger daughter and business partner Imani told Cointelegraph about the growing interest in crypto within her circle of friends.
“The trend that's interesting for me to watch is people following trends — everyone creating their own projects and 10k collections because they see the results,” says daughter of Gentry
What may surprise many, Gentry has no Plan B, but only moral support from his family before committing to restarting his career as the new owner of Bundlesbets, a DeFi platform dedicated to sports betting.
“My husband and daughter encouraged me to pursue my dream full time and I am glad I did,” she added. "I don't want anyone to be left behind."

Gentry intends to assist in accelerating efforts to break the curse of generational poverty around the world. This year, she plans to visit her home country, Kenya, and equip his nonprofit organization Educate a Child “with knowledge of this new asset class and the opportunities blockchain technology provides.”
For people who want to follow it, Gentry suggests researching this space first before jumping in. According to her, people should understand the downside of crypto to avoid fraud, a concern that is most relevant to new investors.
“When it comes to investing in crypto, the opportunity to gain financial freedom is well worth the cost of watching some crypto educational YouTube videos or reading a book on the topic,” she said.
19-year-old Imani believes that crypto will become a reality in the future. “Take time to learn and engage in space, and even teach parents, siblings, and others, because blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies are disruptive technologies that will require a major paradigm shift in the way we think about centralized finance and fiat money today," said Imani.
She referred to the case of Sultan Gustaf Al Ghozali, an Indonesian student, who was able to make one million dollars by selling the NFT version of the selfie on the OpenSea NFT market.
