Juanda Airport Starts Accepting Arrivals From Overseas, Especially Indonesian Migrant Workers

JAKARTA - Juanda Airport in Surabaya has begun to receive arrivals from Overseas Travelers (PPLN), especially Indonesian migrant workers, on Saturday, January 22, 2022, since it opened for international flights on January 1, 2022.

President Director of PT Angkasa Pura (API) I, Faik Fahmi, said the inaugural international flight at Juanda Airport in Surabaya carried 129 migrant workers from Malaysia using Malaysia Airlines flight number MH871 which landed at 12.11 WIB.

"This Saturday, Juanda Airport Surabaya received its first international arrival in 2022, namely flights carrying 129 Indonesian migrant workers from Malaysia. Airport management has simulated the reception and health checks of foreign travelers so that the implementation of health protocols runs smoothly and does not cause significant queue density", said Faik Fahmi, quoted from Antara on Sunday.

He explained that the RT-PCR examination was carried out in 3 batches where there were 2 positive COVID-19 migrant workers, but the type of COVID-19 variant was not yet known.

He said, two migrant workers who were confirmed positive were immediately evacuated to Dr. Sutomo Hospital, Surabaya. Meanwhile, migrant workers with a negative RT-PCR test result, are taken to a quarantine guesthouse (Hajj Dormitory).

"We also thank the stakeholders so that the reception of Indonesian migrant workers at Juanda Airport can run smoothly", said Faik Fahmi.
