RI Warships Rescue A Fisherman In The Middle Of The Natuna Sea Whose Boat Engine Is Damaged
JAKARTA - The Republic of Indonesia warship (KRI) Kapitan Pattimura-371 rescued a fisherman, Herman Sugiarto, who was swept away while looking for fish due to bad weather, and the boat he was traveling in suffered engine failure in the southeastern waters of Bunguran Island, Natuna, Wednesday, January 19 yesterday.
The commander of KRI Kapitan Pattimura-317 Marine Lt. Col. (P) Valentino Articlebessy Valentino Articlebessy said, while on patrol in the afternoon at around 17.00 western Indonesia time, he saw a small boat with a fisherman oscillating in the sea with the boat engine off and asking for help. KRI Kapitan Pattimura-317 personnel then immediately carried out rescue actions.
The weather conditions were quite bad at the location, where the wind direction was from the north with a speed of approximately 20 to 30 knots and a wave height of about 1.8 to 2.5 meters, making the rescue process difficult. After the evacuation process was successfully carried out, the fisherman's health condition was checked, and then pulled the boat to the nearest pier.
The Commander of the Fleet Command I, Admiral TNI Arsyad Abdullah, expressed his appreciation for the initiative of KRI Kapitan Pattimura-371 Soldier who was responsive and alert in providing assistance.
"What the Navy Soldiers have shown is the implementation of the eight mandatory TNI responsibilities, namely being an example and pioneering efforts to overcome the difficulties of the people around them," he said as quoted by the Navy, Thursday, January 20.
This is also in line with the instructions of the Chief of Naval Staff (Kasal) Admiral Yudo Margono so that the presence of Indonesian Navy soldiers everywhere can have a positive impact on the surrounding community.
KRI Kapitan Pattimura - 371 is a Parchim class corvette ship from the Eskorta Ship Unit, Koarmada I based in Jakarta. The presence of the KRI is in the context of border security operations in the North Natuna Sea, under the control of the Marine Combat Group of Koarmada I.
