The Price Of Oil Is Already IDR 14,000/liter, Those Who Try To Hoard Must Pay A Fine Of IDR 50 Billion
JAKARTA - The National Police Headquarters immediately formed a monitoring team for the one-price cooking oil policy issued by the government. His job is to monitor the production, distribution and sale of cooking oil.
"The National Police formed a monitoring team to the regions, to monitor the production, distribution and sale of cooking oil," said Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karopenmas) of the National Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Pol Ahmad Ramadhan, when confirmed in Jakarta, Thursday, January 20, as reported by Antara.
This monitoring team is also tasked with preventing panic buying or wholesale action by the community by taking action in the field. Moreover, a number of regions reported that this low price actually made purchases feel frantic.
"Take action if there are wholesale actions, hoarding, specifically for premium packaged cooking oil," he said.
The next step taken by the National Police is to coordinate with the Indonesian Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) and the provincial, city and district level trade offices to issue implementing regulations or technical regulations for selling cooking oil at a price of IDR 14 thousand per liter.
"The rules are limited to two liters per purchase," he said.
He explained that these restrictions were carried out in order to anticipate wholesale actions or hoarding carried out by irresponsible parties or the general public.
The former Kabagpenum of the National Police Public Relations Division said that anyone who hoards can be sentenced to five years in prison or a fine of IDR 50 billion.
"In accordance with Article 107 of the 2014 Law on Hoarding," said Ramadhan.
The government is committed to meeting the people's food needs at affordable prices, one of which is setting a policy of one cooking oil price equivalent to IDR 14 thousand per liter, starting on January 19, 2022.
This policy is in order to overcome the high price of cooking oil, as well as further efforts to ensure the availability of cooking oil at affordable prices.
Through this policy, all cooking oil, both premium packaging and simple packaging, is sold at a price equivalent to IDR 14 thousand per liter to meet the needs of households and micro and small businesses.
As an initial implementation, the provision of cooking oil at one price is carried out at modern retailers who are members of the Indonesian Retail Entrepreneurs Association (Aprindo), and for traditional markets, they are given one week to make adjustments.
