JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) has officially raised the case of alleged corruption in the aircraft charter at PT Garuda Indonesia to the investigation level, Wednesday, January 19.

For the first stage of the investigation, investigators from the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) will explore the procurement of ATR 72-600 aircraft.

President Director of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (GIAA) Irfan Setiaputra said his party would provide full support in the investigation process by the Corruption Eradication Commissioner (KPK).

"We will have full support," he said briefly to VOI, Thursday, January 20.

The support in question is to provide whatever is needed by the prosecutor's office.

Attorney General ST Burhanuddin said in his press conference that his party would cooperate with the KPK in investigating this case. Although the investigation has gone up, no suspects have been arrested by the prosecutor's office.

Previously, on January 11, the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Erick Thohir, reported the alleged corruption case of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk to the Attorney General's Office. The alleged corruption occurred during the procurement of the ATR 72-600 aircraft. When he arrived, Erick also submitted evidence and audit results from the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP).

It is estimated that temporary state losses due to cases of alleged corruption in the procurement and leasing of PT Garuda Indonesia aircraft reached IDR 3.6 trillion.
