Medical Waste Findings Strongly Allegedly Belonging To The NTB Provincial Health Office, Alleged Environmental Pollution Acts Are Still Investigating
MATARAM - Medical waste piled up and scattered around the area of the former Community Eye Health Center (BKMM) building in the Cakranegara area, Mataram City, is suspected to belong to the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Provincial Health Office.
"From the results of the preliminary investigation, the provincial health department owns the waste. But to be clear, we are still investigating it," said Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Mataram Police, Kompol Kadek Adi Budi Astawa in Mataram, Antara, Tuesday, January 18.
The deepening, he said, was carried out through a clarification process from related agencies, including the NTB BKMM, NTB Health Service, Mataram Health Service, NTB Forestry and Environment Service and also the State 2 Mataram Special School, which is now occupying the building.
He ensured that the clarification of the parties was still running in a marathon. Including analyzing the evidence found in the field. "For the types of drugs found at the location, we are still checking with experts," he said.
On Wednesday, December 22, Mataram Police found medical waste piled up and scattered in three rooms of the former NTB BKMM Building, Cakranegara, Mataram City.
From the variety of medical waste, plastic packages containing drugs were found that had piled up in the room. Syringes, condoms, infusions, and medical materials in liquid form were strewn across the front yard.
Among them, a number of drugs were identified which had not yet expired.
This condition is thought to have occurred since the NTB BKMM, which is the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of the NTB Health Service, moved in 2018 to the old NTB Provincial General Hospital (RSUP) building on Jalan Pejanggik, Mataram City.
The NTB Health Office and Mataram City reportedly also filled a number of rooms in the former NTB BKMM Building.
The former NTB BKMM building has now become a supporting facility for teaching and learning for students at the State 2 Mataram Special School (SLB). Of the dozens of existing rooms, seven of them have been functioned by SLB Negeri 2 Mataram.
Kadek Adi has confirmed that the handling of the case which is currently under investigation is related to the alleged criminal offense of environmental pollution for the management of hazardous and toxic waste (B3).
