Jokowi: New Capital City Is Part Of Massive Transformation, Not Just Physical Building
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that the construction of the new nation's capital city in East Kalimantan is not just physical development. He emphasized that this development is part of a major transformation to deal with change.
This was conveyed when giving a briefing at the 67th Anniversary of Parahyangan University, Bandung, West Java on Monday, January 17.
"I want to emphasize regarding the construction of a new capital city that our new capital is part of the massive transformation that we want to carry out," Jokowi said in his briefing broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel.
"The construction of a new capital city is not merely a physical move of government offices. The main goal (development, ed) is to build a smart new city, a new city that is competitive at the global level, build a new locomotive for the transformation of our country towards an Indonesia based on innovation and technology," added the former governor of DKI Jakarta.
Not only that, this development will also be designed based on a green economy. Where, the city is healthy for its citizens, as well as efficient and productive.
