17 Women In Tanah Abang Caught By Joint Officers, 14 Of Them Suspected Of Being Prostitutes

JAKARTA - Joint officers from the Three Pillars of Tanah Abang District conducted raids targeting commercial sex workers (PSK) and people with social welfare problems (PMKS) at three points in the Tanah Abang area, Central Jakarta.

From the results of the officer's sweep, as many as 17 people were successfully captured from the Kebon Kacang, Kebon Melati, and Petamburan sub-districts.

"Tonight, service activities to the community are carried out in order to create order, especially related to social issues. We are assisted by the Head of the Central Jakarta Police for the three pillars," said Tanah Abang Sub-District Head Dicky Suherlan to VOI at the location, Thursday, January 13, evening.

Of the 17 people caught, 14 were suspected of being prostitutes, 1 was homeless and 2 were beggars.

"Earlier, we have secured 17 people into the Social Service car. Next, a test will be carried out first from the Health Service team, later they will be fostered in social institutions," he said.

The operation was carried out in a circular manner at points prone to mass crowds in the Tanah Abang area. Starting from Fachrudin Street, under the Multipurpose Crossing Bridge (JPM), the High Bridge to the Tanah Abang Unloading area.

"In principle, we go around the central area of Tanah Abang, including those in the Kebon Kacang, Kebon Melati, and Petamburan villages," he said.

Dozens of people who were caught were then tested for antigen in Tanah Abang District before being sent to the Kedoya Social Institution, West Jakarta.
