Jokowi Hopes Homestay Around Mandalika Is Fully Filled During MotoGP Event

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo inspected lodging or homestay facilities near the Mandalika circuit, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. This homestay will be a means of staying for MotoGP guests.

Jokowi said the regional government, assisted by the central government, had prepared 300 homestays. Homestays are built in several villages around the Mandalika circuit.

"We hope that when the MotoGP is held, everything will be full," said Jokowi as seen on the Presidential Secretariat's Youtube video, Thursday, January 13.

Jokowi hopes that with the provision of homestays, the MotoGP event in March will not only hold races, but also grow the economy for the community.

"This will have an economic impact on the community around the Mandalika Tourism Special Economic Zone and earlier I have checked one by one of the homestays that have been carried out by the Ministry of Public Works and we will see in March, whether these are filled or not," said Jokowi.

On this day, Jokowi held a working visit in NTB. Jokowi reviewed the readiness of Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport ahead of the MotoGP.

The former governor of DKI monitored several facilities including temperature checkpoints and electronic health alert cards or e-HAC, immigration document checkpoints, baggage collection, and customs checkpoints.

This airport will later be used as entry access to the Province of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) for spectators and participants of the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP.

"Earlier, I checked the arrival at the airport, then the process at the airport. I saw everything related to health protocols, related to checks for PCR, checking that they had been vaccinated twice, all in good order," said Jokowi.

Then, Jokowi also reviewed the readiness of the main infrastructure from the airport to the circuit. Then, Jokowi checked the organization's readiness to face MotoGP, such as asking what difficulties they were facing, accommodation, transportation readiness, hotels, and planes.

"We hope that from the airport to the Mandalika circuit, guests will really be delivered to beauty, to good aesthetics. Therefore, this must be prepared. I ask that in February, everything can be completed," he explained.
