Ministry of Social Affairs Prepares Clean Water Network For Jayapura Flood Victims
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Social Affairs will install a clean water network or water treatment for flood locations in the Jayapura City area, Papua Province.
"Clean water networks will be installed or water treatment. If there is a flood, the problem is definitely about clean water", said Social Minister, Tri Rismaharini, at a press conference at Waringin Sports Center Jayapura, Thursday, January 13.
Risma said that with the clean water network, cloudy water can be processed into ready-to-drink water.
"The location must be chosen which is safe, of course", she said as quoted by Antara.
For this reason, the Minister of Social Affairs cooperates with the Jayapura City Government in installing the installation of clean water networks needed by flood victims.
The aid given by Risma during her working visit to Jayapura was valued at IDR 1,390,539,388 which consisted of disaster logistics assistance, compensation for heirs for the seven victims, 500 packages of necessities, 500 packages of cleaning tools, 500 packages of school equipment, 500 sheets of sarongs, equipment baby 50 packages and natural materials.
Previously, floods that occurred in four of the five districts in Jayapura City affected 8,268 residents.
Head of the Jayapura City Natural Disaster Emergency Response Team, Rustan Saru, said that most residents chose not to evacuate and remained in their homes for fear of being looted.
However, residents whose houses cannot be occupied due to heavy damage and damaged household appliances have chosen to evacuate since Sunday, January 9 night.
The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture noted that eight people died due to floods and landslides in Jayapura, Papua, which occurred last Thursday, January 6.
