Coordinating Minister For Human Development And Culture: Strict Monitoring Is Needed To Prevent Violence Against Children
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy said that extra strict supervision is needed, especially in the world of education so that heartbreaking events such as the rape of female students are not repeated.
"Therefore, we must be very vigilant about sexual and non-sexual violence against children. This is a serious concern from the President," said Muhadjir at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 12.
Muhadjir added that cases of sexual violence can occur in various institutions, not only in educational institutions. For this reason, preventive measures are needed to prevent cases of sexual violence in various places.
"This incident cannot be ignored, it means that it only occurs in certain institutions. It can be anywhere, including educational institutions," he said.

The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture also appreciated the demands of the public prosecutor against Herry Wirawan, a defendant in an immoral case against 13 female students in Bandung, West Java.
Muhadjir hopes that the verdict handed down by the judge will provide a deterrent effect so that similar incidents do not happen again in the future.
"What is more important is how the verdict will really have a deterrent effect," he said.
Previously, the West Java High Prosecutor's Office demanded that Herry Wirawan be sentenced to death for raping 13 female students. Herry was also demanded to be given a chemical castration sentence as well as punishment to pay a fine and pay restitution for the victim.
The prosecutor also demanded that all of Herry's assets to be confiscated and auctioned off to finance the needs of the victims and their babies.
