Bridge In Simeulue Aceh Regency Collapses In Flood, BPBD Prepares Rubber Boats For Crossing
BANDA ACEH - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Simeulue Regency, Aceh, said a bridge in the island district collapsed in the flood.
Acting Head of BPBD Simeulue Regency, Zulfadli, said the collapsed bridge was in Gampong (village) of Lala Bahagia, Salang District.
"The collapse of the bridge has cut off public transportation access. People are forced to use rafts to cross the river", Zulfadli said, quoted by Antara on Wednesday, January 12.
In addition to rafts, said Zulfadli, the Simeulue Regency BPBD also provided rubber boats for crossing the community on the bridge that collapsed in the flood.
"The Simeulue Regency Government has also deployed heavy equipment to repair the bridge that was damaged by the flood", Zulfadli said.
Meanwhile, residents provided raft services for river crossings on the collapsed bridge. The paid raft crossing is about 700 meters from the beach.
"The raft costs IDR 10,000 per vehicle. If you take a rubber boat belonging to the BPBD, you can't use a vehicle, only people can ride it", said Rahman, a resident.

Rahman hopes that the Simeulue Regency Government will immediately repair the bridge. This is because the collapsed bridge has become the main access for the community in the sub-district at the very end of Simeulue.
"The bridge is the main access for the community, please repair it immediately or build a new one. If not, the community's land transportation in Salang District will be cut off", said Rahman.
