Southeast Sulawesi Arrest 2 Suspected Murderers Of A Public Transportation Driver During Clashes In Kendari

KENDARI - The Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police arrested two suspects in the murder of a public transportation driver Agustinus (23) who was passing during a clash between two groups in the Kendari Bay area in December 16, 2021.

Director of General Crime Investigation of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police Grand Commissioner Bambang Wijanarko said the two suspects who were arrested with the initials ID and AH, had fled on Laonti Island, South Konawe Regency.

"Both were arrested on Laonti Island, South Konawe Regency on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at 00.20 central Indonesia time in the morning," he said, as quoted by Antara, Thursday, January 6.

Grand Commissioner Bambang explained the role of each suspect, for suspect ID to beat using a blunt object, namely a wooden block, to the victim Agustinus (23) so that the victim fell.

Then, it was suspect AH who swung a sharp object at the victim's neck so that the victim died.

The police charged the two suspects with multiple articles related to severe abuse.

"We put in layers of articles, namely article 170, article 351 paragraph 3, and article 338 of the Criminal Code with a penalty of 15 years in prison," he said.

Grand Commissioner Bambang Wijanarko said his party had examined 53 witnesses, identified 16 as suspects, 11 of who had been detained, namely AB, AP, AGS, KH, SH, AR, EF, ID, AH, AG and FAH. "Five other people are still at large," he said.

Previously, on December 16, 2021, there was a clash between two groups in the Kendari Bay area.

As a result of this clash, an angkot driver named August (23) who was delivering passengers at the time became a victim of the incident.

In addition, dozens of both groups suffered injuries and many were rushed to the hospital. At that time, the police were assisted by the TNI to secure the location of the clashes.
